The Prayer of Repentance
This is the text of the original prayer delivered January 23, 1996 by Pastor Joe Wright to the Kansas House of Representatives in Topeka.
http://www.centralcc.org/NewsNow/JoeArticles/JoeRepentancePrayer.html

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and seek your direction and guidance.

We know your Word says, "Woe to those who call evil good," but that's exactly what we've done.
We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and inverted our values.

We confess that we have ridiculed the absolute truth of your Word and called it moral pluralism.

We have worshipped other gods and called it multiculturalism.

We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle.

We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.

We have neglected the needy and called it self-preservation.

We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.

We have killed our unborn and called it choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building esteem.

We have abused power and called it political savvy.

We have coveted our neighbors' possessions and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.

We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us O God and know our hearts today; try us and see if there be some wicked way in us; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.

Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent here by the people of Kansas, and who have been ordained by you, to govern this great state.

Grant them your wisdom to rule and may their decisions direct us to the center of your will. I ask it in the name of your son, the living savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

THE

ROMAN

ROAD

The Bible clearly outlines the way to become a Christian. Below are references to do so.

*****

Romans 1:16

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10:9-10 & 13

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.... For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord & Savior?

Would you like to have assurance of eternal life?

If so, then pray this prayer:

"Lord, I know I am a sinner. I believe Your Son, Jesus Christ, died on the Cross for my sins. Please forgive me of my sins and make me a new person. I commit my life to You today. Amen."

The Will of God

The will of God will never take you,
Where the Grace of God cannot keep you,
Where the Arms of God cannot support you,
Where the Riches of God cannot supply your needs,
Where the Power of God cannot endow you.

The will of God will never take you,
Where the Spirit of God cannot work through you,
Where the Wisdom of God cannot teach you,
Where the Army of God cannot protect you,
Where the Hands of God cannot mold you.

The will of God will never take you,
Where the Love of God cannot enfold you,
Where the Mercies of God cannot sustain you,
Where the Peace of God cannot calm your fears,
Where the Authority of God cannot overrule for you.

The will of God will never take you,
Where the Comfort of God cannot dry your tears,
Where the Word of God cannot feed you,
Where the Miracles of God cannot be done for you,
Where the Omnipresence of God cannot find you.

Dear Promise Keeper,                                                      May 6, 2003
Recent news from Iraq has both saddened and encouraged my heart, and I wanted to take a minute to share with you some personal perspective on our Promise Keeper brothers who fearlessly and selflessly fight for freedom and the country they hold dear to their heart. Thank you so much for allowing me to share these precious moments with you every month.

James Kiehl, age 22, from Comfort, TX, received Christ into his heart and was baptized in a makeshift pool of water in the desert sands of Iraq during the opening days of the war. On March 23rd, James and seven members of the 507th Maintenance Company were captured by the Iraqi's.  Sadly, during the heroic rescue of Jessica Lynch, James Kiehl's lifeless body was discovered. James' wife, Jill, will be giving birth to their first child any day now. James won't be there for the bittersweet childbirth, but thanks to Jesus and His shed blood on the cross, the young soldier will have a 50 yard line seat to get to celebrate the birth from "heaven's hall of fame" in the "great stadium in the sky."

** Promise Keepers lead their friends to Jesus! **

While Iraqi para-military groups shoot women and children, a group of Coalition soldiers created a diversion as another team acted to rescue severely wounded Pfc Jessica Lynch from peril. I thought about the men of Promise Keepers when I read the accounts of these heroic men who risked their lives without hesitation to bring that young lady safely home to her parents and beloved country.

** Promise Keepers humbly serve the women in our lives and love them "as Christ loved the church." **

Two heartwarming e-mails I received just yesterday continued to expose the true heart of America's godly men. The pictures showed American soldiers hugging Iraqi children, carrying Iraqi children and reaching out to Iraqi kids with a handshake of friendship. The smiles on those kids' faces are as wide as Texas!

** PK men love kids!!! **

To put the icing on the cake, yesterday I received this wonderful picture of the soldiers praying together in the desert. Who cares what hair color or skin color or denominational color?   It's just a bunch of godly warriors bound together by honor, duty and a valiant heart for God and country.  Men praying in the desert sands of Iraq! Isn't that fantastic?

** Promise Keepers bind our hearts together! **

If you catch my drift, you can tell I am awfully crazy about the PK men I am privileged to be associated with. I cherish every PK Conference, every conversation, every prayer, every hug, every story I hear about a PK guy "giving it up" for our Savior.

I am proud to be one of you. We may not be in Iraq, but our battles are rugged. The enemy is strong, but as our President said before we moved into Iraq, "We will win."  Jesus promised that for us, too!

At night I read a chapter of scripture to my precious bride before we pray together and say good night.  Last night we finished the book of Revelation. The last chapter reassures us--when the battle is over and the smoke clears, we will stand, humble and victorious, with the One who bled and died for us. What a day that will be!

Revelation 20:10--"And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever."

Revelation 21:1-3--"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there was no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He shall dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be among them."

I am praying hard for a lot of lost guys, that they will come to this year's PK events and get to know the One who brings the victory. I hope to see you there.

Your brother in Christ,
Joe White

When I Say I'm A Christian.

When I say . . . I am a Christian

I'm not shouting "I am saved."

I'm whispering "I was lost"

That is why I chose His way.

When I say . . . I am a Christian

I don't speak of this with pride.

I'm confessing that I stumble

needing God to be my guide.

When I say . . . I am a Christian

I'm not trying to be strong.

I'm professing that I am weak

and pray for strength to carry on.

When I say...I am a Christian

I don't think I know it all

I submit to my confusion

Asking humbly to be taught

When I say . . . I am a Christian

I'm not bragging of success.

I'm admitting I have failed

and cannot ever pay the debt

When I say . . . I am a Christian

I'm not claiming to be perfect.

My flaws are too visible

but God believes I'm worth it.

When I say . . . I am a Christian

I still feel the sting of pain.

I have my share of heartaches

which is why I seek HIS name.

When I say . . . I am a Christian

I do not wish to judge.

I have no authority

I only know I'm loved.
